Stevenage Regeneration is committed to revitalising the heart of Stevenage with a sustainable and high quality town centre with retail, leisure and civic facilities for everyone. In drawing up these plans, we have taken account of feedback from members of the public and other major stakeholders to combine the latest architectural and masterplanning initiatives with the town's distinctive and much-loved character:

1. Improved access for both pedestrians and cyclists. Public transport facilities upgraded, with a new bus station between the town centre and train station.
2. New civic quarter - incorporating a 'Discovery Centre' with library and museum, and new council offices - in the heart of the town.
3. High quality leisure facilities, including a new multi-screen cinema and a wide selection of cafes and restaurants, to lay the foundations for a livelier, more vibrant town centre.
4. The Town Square, including the clock tower and 'Joyride' sculpture, retained as an important focal point in the town.
5. Stevenage's shopping facilities will be enhanced significantly, including a new department store and a wide selection of leading high street retailers - improving the town's overall shopping offer.
6. Up to 1,050 new homes in one, two and three bedroom apartments - bringing new life to the town centre.
